Elisabeth Büttner (Double Bass/Violone)
Elisabeth Büttner was a student of Claus Freudenstein and studied at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) with Prof. Duncan McTier. There she graduated with a Master of Arts in Music Performance (Orchestra) and a Master of Arts in Music Pedagogy (with distinction).
Studies on the violone (baroque bass) with Love Persson and David Sinclair (Schola Cantorum Basiliensis), as well as numerous chamber music courses, including those with the Vogler Quartet and Kristin von der Goltz, complemented her training.
Elisabeth Büttner teaches doublebass at the music schools in Weinfelden and Frauenfeld, Switzerland. Since September 2025, she has been a lecturer in doublebass pedagogy at the Zurich University of the Arts.
As a freelance doublebassist, Elisabeth Büttner plays with numerous Swiss orchestras and ensembles, including Kammerorchester itempi (Basel), Kammerorchester Basel, Swiss Orchestra, Musikkollegium Winterthur, City Light Symphony Orchestra (Lucerne), Berner Kammerorchester, Accademia Barocca Lucernensis, and Camerata Bern.
In Weinfelden, she is a founding member of the young Thurgau string chamber orchestra, Camerata Aperta.
