The Young Philharmonic Orchestra Jerusalem Weimar was established in 2011 with a mission, to play music that was forbidden to be played, to revive forgotten masterpieces by Jewish composers, as well as other compositions that, being created under totalitarian regimes in persecution facing death, represent, each one in its own way, a larger issue: While culture and cultural values may not be enough to hold humanity together, it is always the ever-lasting task of the younger generation to rediscover those values and give them a renewed meaning.

Weimar - Jerusalem 2015
Like the tours in the years 2011 and 2013, students of the University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar will once again be performing together with fellow students from the befriended Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. After the successful project phase in 2013, the chief conductor of the Dresden Philharmonic, Michael Sanderling, has once again been engaged to work with the young orchestra.

International Conference: Giuseppe Sarti and Late Eighteenth-Century Italian Opera
The Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, Campus Givat-Ram, 91904, Jerusalem, Israel, March 3-4 2015
The opera production is accompanied by an international conference that features 13 lectures by invited speakers who are the prominent scholars in the field of Italian opera and operas by Sarti, their dramaturgy and musical style, reception, editing and performance.

The Symphony Orchestra of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance encompasses all students in the Academy’s orchestral instruments Department, and it performs major works taken from the symphonic music repertoire.
