The event is part of the project “Shalom and Friendship Through Music”, a German–Israeli musical initiative marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
"Shalom & Chaverut Through Music” is a musical, pedagogical, academic, and community project supported by the Government of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It reflects the deep bonds of friendship between Germany and Israel in general, and between the twin cities of Münster and Rishon LeZion in particular.
The project will take place in November 2025, marking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Germany and Israel. The initiative is organized in collaboration with the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion and the University of Music Münster (Musikhochschule Münster).
The Israeli side is led by Gal Alterovich, Head of the Education Department of the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion, who also serves as the project’s musical director and conductor.
As part of the project, a musical and pedagogical collaboration will take place between professors and students from Germany and Israel. Prof. Stephan Froleyks, Dean of the University of Music Münster, Prof. Elisabeth Fürniss, and Prof. Eyal Ein-Habar will conduct workshops and masterclasses in various Israeli music institutions.
In addition, a joint chamber ensemble of Israeli and German students, led by Tomer Yariv, will perform in Israel and later in a return visit to Germany. The project in Israel will conclude with a gala concert featuring the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion, conducted by Gal Alterovich
