Guests from the National University of Music Bucharest

The Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance is pleased to announce the visit of a delegation of musicians from the National University of Music in Bucharest between 4.12.16 and 8.12.16. The delegation, headed by Prof. Diana Mos Rector of the University, will include musicians, among them Prof. Dan Dediu the former Rector, musicologist Prof. Valentina Sandu-Dediu and the six members of Ensemble Profil which focuses on performing contemporary music. They will give master classes, musicology lectures and two concerts of contemporary Romanian music (concerts open to the public).

Collaborative Program between the JAMD Vocal Department and the Jerusalem Opera The Charles Schneider Competition

1. The Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance (JAMD) and the Jerusalem Opera wish to collaborate in nurturing and promoting young singers at the verge of their professional career.
2. As part of this collaboration, the Vocal Department will establish a competition in which a student will be selected for a major role in one of the Jerusalem Opera's productions. The opera and roles open for this competition will be determined by the Jerusalem Opera. The opera and the roles open will be published in advance for potential candidates.

JAMD Chamber Choir to open Wroclaw "Flow" event

The Jerusalem Academy Chamber Choir will travel to the FLOW event in Wroclaw, Poland, representing JAMD and with the cooperation of the Israeli Foreign Ministry. This event will denote the halfway point of the celebrations of this city's having been nominated the European Capital of Culture and will present the story of building, destruction and rebuilding of Wrocław in a huge performance on the Odra river and its banks. 3 orchestras and 6 choirs will perform together a piece created especially for this event.

Intercultural Musical Dialogue Summary Session

The summary session of the "Intercultural Musical Dialogue" course, under the instruction of Joseph Ouda and Hagai Bilitzky, was held on Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016. Throughout the course, pupils of three sixth grade classes from Beit Zafafa met pupils of three sixth grade classes from Beit HaKerem. JAMD students taught the students of both schools in combined classes, exposing them to musical notions and ideas expressed in compositions from both Oriental and Eastern cultures.

Awarding Ceremony of the Younes and Soraya Nazarian “Ima” Foundation

“Ima” Foundation awards scholarships of excellence To students of the Chamber Music Program for Outstanding Students.

The ceremony will take place on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at 18:00, at the Navon Hall, the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Building of the JAMD High School and Conservatory, Givat-Ram, Jerusalem.
