About the Seminar

The Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance is happy to announce its 19th International Seminar for Strings, Voice and Chamber Music which will take place in the City of Jerusalem August 25 - September 3, 2015.

The artistic director of the Academy’s Seminar is Mr. Zvi Plesser, Cellist and a faculty member of JAMD.

The seminar will continue its cooperation with the Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival – with Masterclasses from distinguished visiting artists. This year we will also have a newly formed cooperation with Wuerzburg Hochschule – Germany, by hosting three distinguished professors and welcoming students of the school into our studying community as well as Visiting Professors from the Helsinki Sibelius Academy.

This seminar is intended for advanced students and young professional musicians between the ages of 16-28. In the past years the seminar has brought together hundreds of young musicians from Israel, Europe, America, Asia and Australia who were interested to meet and study with internationally famous teachers and performers.

Limited to 80 participants, the seminar is based upon intensive instrumental training: the program includes individual lessons, chamber music workshops, concerts, discussions, and visiting open rehearsals of the JCMF.

A team of collaborating pianists will be in residence to work with all individual instrumental and vocal classes. The seminar also provides private and group sessions in movement for Musicians by licensed instructor Iris Goren who will be in residence for the duration of this course.

This seminar will have an intensive schedule, but at the same time each participant will have enough time for practice, visiting the city and possible sport activities.

Accommodation for non-Jerusalem students will be available - with additional payment - on the Givat Ram Campus, a short walking distance from the Academy building.

For more details please contact the Administrative Director - Asher Pearl

String Program:
Students will receive private instruction and will participate in Masterclasses. An effort will be made in order to divide the participants into chamber Music Groups. Each group will be assigned a coach and will be given lessons. Toward the end of the Seminar students will be invited to play in the final concerts.

Vocal Program:
The Vocal Program is directed by Mr. Zvi Zemel, Senior lecturer and Vocal coach at the academy. Participants will receive daily lessons with faculty members and excellent students will participate in open masterclasses with the guest artists. There will be many additional activities for the vocal department, like coaching classes, technique classes, workshops and concerts.

All the individual lessons, practice rooms and Masterclasses will be held at the Jerusalem Academy building on Edmond Safra Campus,Givat Ram Campus. In the last days of the seminar most of the young musicians will have the opportunity to perform at the special concerts organized by the Jerusalem Academy.
