Won the Tel-Aviv Municipality’s prizes: Rosenblum Prize for Performing Arts (2020) and the Engel Prize for Original Music composition (His opera Mothers) in 2023.
Born in Haifa, holds Master’s degrees in Composition and in Voice with highest distinction from the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, Tel Aviv University.
During the recent decades, David has frequently lectured, presented, conducted, and performed in concerts dedicated to Israeli songs in all its diversites, from the first satire theatres of the late 1920th - Ha-Kumkum and Ha-Matateh - to the present. He regularly performs with Israel’s most prominent artists, from Esther Ofarim and Yehoram Gaon to Rita, Matti Caspi, and many others.
Through his extensive work in this field, he contributes greatly to the study and recognition of the origin of Israeli song and brings it to the awareness of broad and diverse audiences.
David appears regularly at the Eilat Clasic-Chamber Music Festival, the Holon theatre’s Yemey-Ha-Zemer Festival, and his activities there are often recorded and broadcast frequently on television.
He is the arranger and conductor of the annual memorial concert of the Rishon LeZion Symphony Orchestra, broadcast on Channel 13 on Israel’s Memorial Day, featuring leading Israeli artists.
He conducted orchestral tours of the renowned singer Enrico Macias in Israel and of the band 2B in Israel and Cyprus.
He takes part in productions of the Israeli Opera as composer, arranger, pianist, conductor, and opera translator.
His Hebrew translations of many operas are regularly performed at the Israeli Opera.
He has served as music director of numerous productions and has conducted many orchestral tours all over the world, including the Houston Philharmonic, Tokyo Symphonic, St. Petersburg, Johannesburg, Almaty, Baku, Memphis, and more.
His major works include two operas, for which he wrote both text and music:
- The children’s opera Alice in Wonderland, based on Lewis Carroll, performed dozens of times in Israel and also in Lithuanian at the Vilnius Opera House.
- The opera Mothers, presenting the moments of discrimination and pain of the mothers in the Book of Genesis, awarded the Engel Prize, performed multiple times at the Israeli Opera, the Lake Festival, the Jerusalem Academy of Music, and the Young Artists Program at Mishkenot Sha’ananim.
At the beginning of his career, David sang solo roles in many oratorios and operas, received numerous scholarships, and won first place in the Academy’s voice competition.
He taught voice at the School for Choral Singing and at Alon High School. He taught at opera festivals in Italy and Switzerland, and participated in many international concert tours and festivals as singer, pianist, and conductor.
He was among the founders of the ensemble Odd-Opera, which received critical acclaim for the original bold production inspired by Mozart’s Magic Flute: Hilul-ha-Kesem.
He frequently performs his musical parody Mad about Opera, a solo show with pianist Irit Rob, which has received enthusiastic reviews in Israel, Tallinn, and London, as well as the Parody he wrote “The Divas” for two soprano singers.
