The 2019 - 2020 Dr. Tzipora Jochsberger Z"L Prize for Life Achievement in the creation of Jewish Art Music.

According to the will of Dr. Tzipora Jochsberger Z"L, the prize will be awarded to encourage the creativity in Jewish Art Music.

The prize will be 8000$ (US).

The prize will be granted to a composer for extensive work and Life Achievement in the field of Jewish Art Music, for works based on Hebrew- or other Jewish-language texts (such as Yiddish or Ladino) and/or materials connected to Jewish traditions: cantillation tropes, prayer modes, melodies of different Jewish traditions and/or tales/narratives/concepts of Jewish philosophy or other traditional subjects concerning the Jewish people.

Candidacy for this prize is open to applicants whose work in the field of Jewish Art Music has been extensive over the years.

** New works written especially for this prize will not be considered.

 

Prize Committee

The Prize Committee will consist of three members: a senior faculty member of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance (chair) and two highly reputed musicians from Israel or abroad who are not affiliated with JAMD.

 

Prize regulations

1. Candidates cannot nominate themselves.

2. Proposals for candidates can be submitted by composers, musicians, publishing houses or other recommenders.

3. Submission of a relevant C.V. is compulsory.

4. Submission of a number of scores (3-5) relevant for the prize.

5. Submission of video or audio recordings via links.

6. The Prize Committee may approach the recommenders in order to receive additional materials.

7. The Prize Committee members may suggest additional candidates for discussion.
