البرنامج:

Prof. Laurence Sherr (Kennesaw State University): The Music of Resistance and Survival Project. Lecture-presentation featuring a live performance of the composer’s Sonata for Cello and Piano–Mir zaynen do with Inbal Megiddo, cello and Jian Liu, piano (New Zealand School of Music).

American composer Laurence Sherr will give a two-part presentation. In the first part, he will demonstrate styles and interests in his compositions. Examples range from the avant-garde to the accessible, and include new timbres, spatiality, nature, Judaic music, and Holocaust remembrance. The second part will be his Music of Resistance and Survival project, a cello sonata integrating Holocaust songs from the partisans, ghettos, and camps. Excerpts from these songs, and Sherr’s commentary about the lives of their Jewish creators, will lead to a performance of the sonata by Inbal Megiddo and Jian Liu, both international touring artists and faculty members at the New Zealand School of Music.
