The Search Committee for President of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance is accepting applications from suitable candidates. The position of President is held for three years and will begin in October 2021. 

The Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance (JAMD), founded in 1933, is a leading Israeli institution and recognized worldwide. Over 800 undergraduate and graduate students attend JAMD, studying towards degrees in music and dance, in the areas of performance, artistic creation, education and research.

The President heads JAMD and is its chief academic and administrative authority. The duties and responsibilities of this job touch upon all areas of JAMD's activities and include the continued development of JAMD as a leading academic institution in its field.

The President is responsible for all budget and resource matters, for creation and development of conditions conducive to artistic achievement and creation, teaching and research; s/he is also responsible for fundraising and resource development, advancement of academic and artistic cooperative ventures in Israel and abroad, and representing JAMD to the public.

The President is the approving authority for all academic, administrative and financial planning matters of JAMD.

Required Qualifications

  • Vision of JAMD's academic and artistic direction
  • Professor of Music or Dance, Full Professor preferred
  • Experience in academic administration at a senior level
  • Academic standing in Israel and abroad
  • Leadership abilities, including ability to lead processes of significant change and development
  • Familiarity with systems of higher education in Israel and abroad
  • Ability to represent JAMD to government and public bodies
  • Experience in fundraising in Israel and abroad
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
