Teaching Areas: 

Ofri Akavia was a student of Prof. Andre Hajdu in the Theory and Composition Department at the Jerusalem Music Academy. She studied guitar with Gil Dor at the Jazz Department. She earned her second degree from the Music Academy at the Music Education Department in association with the Musicology Department at the Hebrew University. Her thesis, supervised by Prof.  Veronika Cohen, was a narrative research study about musicians who are also painters.

Ofri writes, composes, arranges and plays. She is interested in the connection between text and music. She composed and arranged poets’ songs for children and created a musical show for 9 musicians that took place in different stages and was accepted to be part of the repertoire of “Sal Tarbut Artzi” (the collection of national cultural offerings).

She has worked for many years with children with special needs, sharing with them a program she built – “From The World With Love” – a cultural journey   through different countries that includes music, art and folk stories.

Ofri studied art at the “Midrasha” in Ramat Hashron and with various other teachers and her works have been featured in exhibitions.
