Soprano, Gilah Yaron is well-known to music-lovers in Israel and Europe through her many performances with orchestras, choirs, chamber ensembles, recitals and recordings. Born in Tel Aviv, Gilah Yaron is the daughter of German immigrants.
In 1990, Gilah Yaron was awarded a prize by the Israel Broadcasting Authority and the Israel Council for the Arts for her outstanding performance of the work "Elsa" by Israeli composer Josef Tal. As well, Gilah Yaron has a special affinity for the music of Olivier Messiaen and has recorded his entire vocal repertoire.
She has studied with Hede Tuerk-Boerstein and Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and since 1982, Gilah Yaron has been on the staff of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. For about 10 years Gilah Yaron served as the head of the vocal department. In addition, Ms. Yaron, frequently gives courses in Lieder and oratorio performance, subjects especially close to her heart, and teaches a course in German grammar, comprehension and diction, to the students of the vocal department. Her textbook is an outcome of these courses.
