VOICES 21C is a choir from the United States that is dedicated to social change and global understanding. In a time when American ideals are epitomized by nationalism and aggression, VOICES 21C aligns itself with the great American voices of compassion, love, and non-violence. The musicians of VOICES 21C engage in an interdisciplinary artistic expression, including spoken word, creative movement and body imagery, traditional Western classical music, non-traditional world song, and improvisation. VOICES 21C started in 2016 by Professor André de Quadros of Boston University, with its first project in the summer of 2016 as a choir-in-residence at the Choralp Festival in the French Alps. Almost all the singers are professional music educators, conductors, or singers. In April, 2017, VOICES 21C gave a historic performance of Muslim music in Vilna Shul, Boston’s Center for Jewish Culture http://www.voices21c.org/

Professor André de Quadros, is a conductor, scholar, music educator, and human rights activist, and is a professor of music and chair of the Music Education Department at Boston University.
